Cation exchange resin
cation exchange resin may be used for the removal of the following
metals from the following solutions:
Cation exchange resins are applied furthermore in the metal beneficiation, especially in the demineralization of galvanic rinse water within a recirculation unit as well as the reclamation of chromic acid from rinse water. Additionally, Lewatit SP 112 may eliminate interfering metal ions from pickling baths and process solutions and chromic acid or phosphor baths.
Basically, the cation exchange resin, belonging to the family of the ion exchange resins, may be used for water softening (so-called water softener resin) and demineralization resin in a demineralization plant (dm-plant). The list of applications regarding water softening contains boiler feed water, condensate and white goods such as dish washer and washing machines. Furthermore, cation exchange resin is used in the textile industry, for water softening of sea water and drinking water as well as sugar solutions and fruit juices. Finally, cation exchange are used in the fish keeping / aquarium water.
Cation exchange resin demineralize furthermore boiler feed water and condensate. Cation exchange are used in galvanic (rinse water and circulation water) and in sugar solutions, glycerine, gelatine and whey. Demineralization takes place as well in hydro gene peroxide, aquarium water (fish keeping) and in alcohol.
Finally, cation exchange resin may be used in special appliances such as the production of hexanedioic acid, the reclamation of recyclable material, the separation of rare earths, pickling bath de-icing, the reclamation of ammonium nitrate, separation of amino acid, nitrate reduction or nitrate removal from water, recovery of gold, copper, molybdenum, chrome, cleansing of glacial acetic acid. Cation exchange removes as well iron from concentrated muriatic acid, is used in the uranium mining and fort the decolouration of syrups.
The cation exchange CNP 80 is widely used to decarbonise water, for instance cooling water, boiler feed water, home water softener, air moistener, drinking water (coffee machines) and brewing water. Additionally, this cation change resin may be used for cleaning and isolating natural fabrics, the selective exchange of copper, nickel, cadmium, cobalt and zinc, separation of amino acid, extraction of antibiotics, neutralization of brewing water as well as removal of ammonia from condensate and the removal of NaOH from alcohols.

Anion exchange resin is suitable for demineralization in conbination with cation exchange resin (for example Lanxes Lewatit MonoPlus S100 / SP 112).
Additionally, special applications for anion exchange resin are the removal of nitrate from water, reclamation of chrome, molybdenum and gold), cleansing of glacial acetic acid, removal of iron from concentrated muriatic acid, decolouration of syrup and uranium mining.
The anion exchange resin Lewatit MP 64 has additionally applicances: clean up of ground water (removal of chromate and heavy metal cyanide complexes), chlorine alkali electrolysis (removal of mercury from industrial waste water of chlorine alkali electrolysis according to the amalgam process), the removal of formic acid from formalin, the deacidification of fruit juice, the cleansing of pharmaceutics, removal of lactic acid from whey. Moreover, anion exchange resin may be used in the hydro metallurgy, especially to reclaim molybdenum, vanadium and tungsten as complex anions and to reclaim gold from cyanic alkali solutions and the reclamation of chromic acid from rinse water.
Lewatit MP 62 is an anion changer as well and may be used for the removal of formic acid from formalin, for the elimination of lactic acid from whey and the purification of pharmaceutics. Aside, this anion exchange resin is used in the hydro metallurgy for the recamation of vanadium, molybdenum and tungsten as complex anions, to reclaim noble metals from rinse water and to cleanse ground water from chromate and heavy metal cyanide complexes.

Mixed bed ion exchange resin
The mixed bed ion exchange resin Lewait Ionac NM 60 (regeneration) / Lewatit Ionac NM 91 (non-regeneration) is a mixed bed ion exchange containing a mixture of gelic, strong cation exchange resin (acid) and gelic, strong anion exchange resin (alkaline) type I in fully regenerated form in the ratio 55:45. The mixed bed ion exchange is readily usable.

Selective ion exchange resin (nitrate resin)
The selective ion exchange resin Lewatit TP 207 is a slight acid macro porous cation exchange resin with chelator iminodi acetic groups for selective bonding of heavy metal cations out of slight acid to slight alkaline solutions. The bonding of heavy metal ions from neutral waters occurs as follows:
Copper > vanadium > uranium > lead > nickel > zinc > cobalt > cadmium > iron (II) > beryllium > manganese > calcium > magnesium > strontium > barium > sodium
The selective ion
exchange Lewatit TP 207 is especially useable for the removal of the
following metals from solutions:
Examples of applications for the selective ion exchange resin Lewatit TP 207 are metal beneficiation (removal of heavy metals from escapes of flow- and batch detoxification systems by selective ion exchange), the selective removal of dissolved heavy metals from waste water beyond the hydroxide precipitation (even under high concentrations of calcium), the reclamation of noble metals or precious metals out of rinse water (decentralized treatment), to reclaim metal IIs from rinse water. Moreover to remove remaining heavy metal quantities from escapes in the sewage detoxification in the metal benefication at the last stage, to lengthen the lifetime of process baths by eliminating interfering metal ions from pickling baths and process solutions, especially the cleansing of chrome acid and phosphor acid baths. Additionally, the selective ion exchange has an application in the hydro metallurgy to separate metal ions from outcrop solutions or in the flue gas cleanup to remove remaining heavy metal concentrations in flue gas scrubbing water in a waste incineration plant or fossil incineration site (coal power station). Finally, Lewatit TP 207 as selektive ion exchange may be used in the ground water redevelopment for the removal of heavy metals.
The selective ion exchange resin Lewatit SR 7 is a nitrate resin for nitrate reduction or nitrate removal. The nitrate resin Lewatit SR 7 is a polystyrene macro porous anion exchange resin which is monodisperse and nitrate selective. As a result, the nitrate removal resin Lewatit SR 7 is three times higher selective for nitrate as a conventional anion exchange resin. Even sulphate containing waters may be reduced from nitrate, without eliminating the already absorbed sulphate.
The nitrate resin Lewatit SR-7 is used in waterworks for drinking water, in home-based ion exchange units as well as in mobile cartridge filters. The nitrate resin Lewatit SR 7 is widely used to remove nitrate from drinking water, waste water, aquarium water (fish keeping) or fish farms. Moreover, for the reduction or removal of nitrite, iodide, perchlorate, chlorate and bromate from water as well as chlorate from sodium hydroxide solution.
